The one-way ticket is Euro 5.70, and it takes about 90 mins to reach Bled. There are two bus stops in Bled - the Bled Union stop is closest to the lake. The same bus then continues to Lake Bohinj. Please be aware that the tickets can be purchased only by paying in cash, both at the bus station and from the bus driver.

We last visited Bled in autumn, which we found was perfect. Over this period, the autumnal colours were breathtaking, the crowds thin, and the accommodation slightly cheaper.. Typically, with the weather getting warmer, it seems that fall colors in the Bled area now begin in early October. Generally, the second half of October is a good bet, but there are no guarantees with nature. Slovenia's fall colors are amazing and Lake Bled is one of the best places in the country to enjoy the full "Colorama" experience!

Getting there Flying into Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia, is the best way to reach Lake Bled. From Ljubljana, you can easily get to Bled by train or bus, with either option costing no more more than €20 one way. Hiring a car is also a good option, and will give you more flexibility during your stay.

October is also the wettest month of the year. Temperatures drop in October. It's still very pleasant, but you need to pack extra layers: sweaters, rain jacket, and beanie. When we visited Bled in October, the daytime temperature was 20°C and the nighttime temperature was 7°C.

The area near to Lake Bled is a wonderful place to visit during the autumn months to see the autumnal foliage. Lake Bled is fantastic for walks around the lake and into the nearby countryside. The forest that surrounds the lake starts to get very colourful throughout October. It was particularly beautiful during the sunset.

There is a small fee to visit the church tower. Powerboats are banned from the lake so to get to the island you can either rent a row boat or take a wooden boat called a pletna to the island. The Pletnas hold 20 people and run all year round, this is the easiest way to get to the island.
